Access

WEF badges and car stickers explained

Roads close and zones restrict. Here is how access works for vehicles, and why we do the paperwork for you.

In short

Vehicles and drivers must be registered and carry the right sticker and badge to enter the Forum’s security zones. In recent editions there were hotel, Congress Centre and resident car stickers. We handle the registration for you.

Updated October 2026

The principle

Why registration comes first

In Forum week, roads around the congress area are closed and security zones restrict access.

To drive in or near those zones, both the vehicle and the driver must be registered, and the car must carry the right sticker for the zone. Everyone in the car needs a badge with the relevant access rights. All vehicles entering a security zone may be searched by the police.

In recent editions the authorities have issued three kinds of car sticker: hotel car stickers, Congress Centre car stickers and resident car stickers. Each is tied to a matching badge. The exact categories, the collection point and the deadlines are set by the organisers and the police, and they change from year to year.

Always check the current rules

Do not rely on last year’s procedure. We follow the official instructions for the current edition and confirm the steps with you in writing. The Kantonspolizei Graubünden and the Forum publish the official information.

How it typically runs

From names to badges

We run every step for you. Based on recent editions; the details vary, and we confirm each one for the current Forum.

  1. Register through the hotel

In recent years, hotel badges and hotel car stickers were requested through the secured hotels, with the driver and the vehicle registered together.

  2. Police approval

The cantonal police review the registration and issue the badge and the sticker. The turnaround in recent years has been around two to three days, depending on volume.

  3. Collect in person

Badges are picked up in person, with identification, at a collection point that the authorities set each year. We tell you when and where.

  4. Fit the sticker

The car carries the sticker for its zone, on the inside of the windscreen. Driver and passengers carry badges with the matching access rights.

What we do

We handle the registration for you

Registering vehicles and drivers takes time and attention. We take care of it to save you both, and we advise which badges suit each client so nobody arrives at a checkpoint with the wrong one.

Send us the guest list, the hotel and the dates as early as you can. The sooner we have them, the smoother the week.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does Ernest & Sons register vehicles and drivers for the WEF?

Yes. We handle vehicle and driver registration for you and advise which badge suits each client. Procedures and deadlines are set by the authorities and change from year to year, so we work from the current official instructions.

Does the driver need a badge too?

Yes. In recent editions the driver has needed a badge with the right access, such as a hotel driver badge. We register the vehicle and the driver together.

Will the police search our vehicle?

All vehicles entering a security zone may be searched by the police. Your chauffeur knows the routine and keeps the process short.

When should registration start?

As soon as your hotel is confirmed. See the planning timeline.
