FAQ
Davos chauffeur questions, answered
The questions we hear every autumn, answered plainly.
Working with us
Experience and service
How long have you worked at the Forum?
Eight years. Our chauffeurs and coordinators have worked the Davos Forum for eight years, for government delegations, ministers and C-level executives.
How do you select your chauffeurs?
By meeting them. An Ernest & Sons account manager travels to each new driver’s location and tests driving, language, local knowledge, reactions, vehicle cleanliness and attitude. Only drivers we have vetted in person join our pool.
Can you invoice a whole delegation on one bill?
Yes. We centralise invoicing and follow-up: one coordinator, one invoice for the whole programme, and a clear follow-up of every movement.
How quickly do you reply to an enquiry?
Within hours. Replying fast is a point of honour for us: every enquiry sent by WhatsApp, email or telephone is answered by a coordinator who knows Davos, with availability and a clear proposal.
Is Ernest & Sons affiliated with the World Economic Forum?
No. We are an independent chauffeur company. We serve the Forum’s guests and delegations, but we are not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by the organiser.
Do you publish prices?
Prices depend on dates, vehicles, duration and security needs, so we organise and quote every Davos programme individually. Tell us about your delegation or event and we reply with a clear proposal.
Planning
Planning your Davos chauffeur booking
How early should I book a chauffeur for the WEF in Davos?
Enquire in July or August of the year before the Forum. Hundreds of vehicles are deployed for the week, and the chauffeurs with real Davos experience are taken first. Late requests are possible, but the choice of drivers and vehicles narrows quickly from October.
How far ahead should accommodation be booked?
As early as possible. Prices in Davos rise sharply as the Forum approaches, and the best locations fill first. Staying in Davos itself saves a great deal of travel time compared with Klosters. See our planning timeline.
Why use a private chauffeur at the WEF?
Because the Forum runs on closed roads, security zones and tight schedules. A private chauffeur follows your guest’s programme door to door, handles registration and luggage, and works with your security team. See why a private chauffeur.
On the road
Transfers and conditions
How long does the transfer from Zurich airport to Davos take?
About two hours in normal conditions and roughly 2.5 hours or more during the Forum, when weather, traffic and checkpoints add time. By helicopter the flight takes around 40 minutes, subject to weather and permissions.
Which airports do you serve for Davos?
Zurich (ZRH) is the usual gateway. We also run transfers from Geneva and Milan, meet private jets, and coordinate helicopter arrivals to Davos.
What if the road into Davos is blocked?
We build alternatives into every plan and monitor conditions. If the main road closes, dispatch informs you early and switches to the agreed alternative.
Can you help with the cold?
Yes. Our cars carry umbrellas and snow grips, and our guide explains what guests should wear.
Access and security
Registration and protection
Does Ernest & Sons register vehicles and drivers for the WEF?
Yes. We handle vehicle and driver registration for you and advise which badge suits each client. Procedures and deadlines are set by the authorities and change from year to year, so we work from the current official instructions.
Can you provide armoured vehicles in Davos?
Yes. We can supply bulletproof vehicles for politically important persons, together with security-trained chauffeurs. Protection levels and availability are confirmed at quotation.
Do your chauffeurs work with close-protection officers?
Yes. We agree communication with your security team and on-site coordinators before arrival.
